What is a Postpartum Doula’s Role?
To be a support to the mother and her family, postpartum doulas provide physical and emotional support in this time of transition.
Support Offered by the Postpartum Doula includes:
- listening to the mother and partner as they process their experience of the birth
- showing the parents and other family members soothing techniques for newborns
- facilitating support from family and friends by establishing needs and providing gentle guidance
- assisting the breastfeeding relationship between mum and her new baby
- providing reassurance
- light household chores (ie: some dishes, light lunch prep, baby’s laundry)
Postpartum Doula Services: $22/hr or 40 hrs for $750
Services include the following:
- breastfeeding support, light meal prep, light household work, emotional support, help with normal infant care
- 24/7 phone availability for questions/support
- hours can be decided to suit your needs
